Reality Revealed

It was the summer of 94' and I had been doing a lot of reading of Emerson, especially his essay titled Self-Reliance. My Grandpa had recommended it to me earlier in the year. It's a great writing that sparked a flame in me that burns to this day. It became for me a sword and shield that carried helped carry me through twenty years of trials and tribulations.

I’m writing this blog to tell a story. Not just any story, it’s my story. I’ve been through many phases of life had lots of different experiences and opportunities to learn. That is something I rarely pass up is a chance to learn something new about myself or the world around me. My life has been plagued with tremendous suffering but also has been exceedingly joyful at times. I have had a lot of good friends and many not so good. I’ve even seen them reverse their roles and surprise me in extraordinary and awful ways. But the unconditional love of my family is what sustains me and has seen me through to this day. I could point fingers and blame them for all my troubles by criticizing my upbringing or heredity, but at this point there is no reason to. You see it’s because I’m realizing that it was all for a reason a very good reason. Simply put, God’s Will. I’m seeing now that most things happen for a purpose and if they seem not to He will make good use of even our worst mistakes. As Ralph Waldo Emerson writes at some point in his essay Self-Reliance “God’s dice are loaded.” So true, and as you will discover if you keep up with this blog I at one time saw that play out in the material world in a high stakes, supposedly friendly game of dice.

This is no ordinary auto-biography. Being that this is the first time I’ve attempted to write about myself I’ve chosen to do it in picture form with small captions highlighting certain parts of my life. There will be mention of drugs, sex, voodoo, outlaw biker gangs and various other aspects of life underground in America. But really it is a tale of discovery, falling from grace and redemption. Kind of a mix of Genesis, Job and the Passion all wrapped into one. There will even be tech talk, and even mentions of artificial intelligence and aliens.

You might be asking yourself where does this guy get all this stuff. So before you click off and go perusing other blogs I do have to reveal that I have been heavily into drugs at times and am clean now, but also I was diagnosed with a major mental illness when I was twenty- two years old. I have had no less then fifteen trips to the Psyche ward and have had about ten drug treatments, a couple group homes and have been to county jail a few times.

One thing I’ve learned through all of that is the fact that human beings are incredibly resilient. I have come back from places I never thought I could and am happier and healthier then ever at the relatively young age of forty-two. So if nothing else maybe some poor suffering soul will read this and gather some hope from my story that no matter what happens in life if you try your best and believe in yourself you can accomplish anything you set your mind to. As long as you work hard and never give up your dreams to will come true.
